University College Utrecht reads The Book Club by Maxim Februari. It is the first shared reading event at a Dutch university.
One Book One Campus at UCU is a communal reading event that will take place in the Fall semester of 2018, on the occasion of UCU’s 20th anniversary. The One Book One Campus format was first introduced in the US in the early 2000s, and has become popular at many universities. While the Netherlands has had a national collective reading event ‘Nederland Leest’ since 2006, One Book One Campus at UCU is the first project of its kind at a Dutch university.
The purpose of One Book, One Campus is to enjoy reading together, to stimulate conversations on current social issues, and to enhance the social and intellectual community at UCU. All students, teachers (from UU and UCU), and staff are invited to participate. Everyone will receive a free copy of the selected novel – Maxim Februari’s The Book Club – at the start of the semester. Maxim Februari will visit UCU on Thursday 13 Sept, 20.00-22.00 (UCU Auditorium, open to all).
In the weeks leading up to his visit, the UCU campus will be buzzing with activities, workshops and discussions.
